Grading: Ego, Control, and Varieties of Authority
John Warner's article for Inside Higher Ed regarding contract grading talks primarily about the ego of the instructor, using himself as the example. He talks about wanting to use this form of grading as a means for students to feel more comfortable experimenting in their writing, and the problems which come with that. He also confronts his own anxieties about changing the way his classes were structured.
