Segregation by Design

An ongoing project that seeks to explore segregation that occurred in 180 US cities from 1956 to the present day. The project utilizes ariel before-and-after comparisons as well as figure-ground diagrams and demographic data. Ultimately, the project aims to create an "Atlas of Urban Renewal" to emphasize the ways that urban cities were hollowed out and altered by the 1956 Federal Highway Act. The project also seeks to be a resource for groups and individuals opposing freeway expansion.
