From the sign-up form: "As one of CSU’s seven skill areas in the General Education program, Civic Engagement aims to develop students’ skills in terms of leadership and communication, ethical decision making, building respectful relationships with individuals and groups of various backgrounds, and integrating academic concepts into real-world projects.

Faculty interested in teaching courses with Civic Engagement components are invited to apply to participate in a Faculty Learning Community that will be introduced to the writing of syllabi, course description, objectives, assignments, and assessment. Participants will learn from colleagues who previously taught Civic Engagement courses.

Successful participants will receive $200 in professional development funds based on the following pre-requisites: a) attend two of the three 75-minute Zoom sessions on the topic of Civic Engagement (all of which will be recorded); b) participate in discussion assignments following each Zoom session; c) develop a syllabus to include Civic Engagement components, such as learning objectives, relevant assignments, grading criteria, and assessment strategies."
