Education Futures: A Civic Imagination Workshop for Teachers takes place on July 12–13, Noon to 2pm ET | 9 to 11am PT. From the event registration: "This workshop is meant to support you as writers and creators, tapping into our collective storytelling power. Beginning with participants’ own “memory objects” we will share memories and ideas in service of co-designing educational futures. As we conclude the session, we will consider the ways we might work with young writers and readers to do the same."
Afro-Rithms From the Future: Classroom Edition takes place on July 13, 14, and 15, 1–4pm ET | 10am to 1pm PT).
From the event registration: "In the inaugural d.school K12 Lab Futures Summer Institute in collaboration with the National Writing Project, we’ll explore how to bring the principles and practices of Afrofutures and the Afro-Rithms from the Future game into more elementary and secondary classrooms and projects.
Join us for a three-day series of virtual sessions with Michelle King, co-director of the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project, in playful collaboration with Dr. Lonny J. Avi Brooks and Ahmed Best, the dynamic writer / researcher / educator / producer / performer co-developers of the Afro-Rithms game and co-creators of The Afrofuturist Podcast."
